The Prince of Peace

In a world of chaos and distraction it is hard to understand what matters most and how to find peace. There have been many talks given about priorities, peace and the Savior.
In Relief Society we discussed Elder Uchtdorf's talk "Of Things That Matter Most" and
Elder Oak's Talk "Good, Better, Best"
We had a spiritual discussion about the topic of how to find peace and how to understand what truly matters. We discussed in  detail the following topics.

Turn To God

To turn to God we must first turn away from the world. The world is full of noises, flashing lights, "entertainment", and other things that crave our attention. If we are not careful the world can pull us away from God. When we turn to God we also turn to His Son Jesus Christ. The Savior is known by many names and one of those name is,"The Prince of Peace." When world feels stormy we can find the "Son" in the storm and find joy and peace. Not only should we turn to God and Christ during hard times we should develop a relationship with them. We can do this through prayer, scripture study and asking for priesthood blessings. I am grateful for God's love and the gift of scriptures and priesthood power that bring great peace during hard trials.

Remember the Basics

Sometimes people in Sunday School say, "Oh the Primary/Seminary answers." in a bored voice. However it is important to remember the basics and foundations. The Primary/Seminary are prayer, scripture study and church attendance. These foundations help us build our spiritual muscles. Often times people get distracted by the extra stuff in the world that they forget the basics. When people return to the basics they can find greater peace.

Simplify Life

Often times people over-complicate their lives with meetings, running off to sports/ballet practice etc. Sometimes having too much going on in life causes stress. When searching for peace we have to realize what is Good, Better and Best. There might be good that comes from ballet and sports but best things come from spending time with family.

Take Care of Yourself

Often times especially women care for others before they care for themselves. When we do not take time for ourselves we will not be strong enough to care for others. We must take time to find our personal peace and realize the love God has for us. We need to always remember that God sees our potential and will help us discover it if we take time to develop our talents.

The Potential of Peace

When we find peace we can feel God's love and discover a greater potential with in.
I challenge us to Turn to God, Remember the Basics, Simplify life and Take care of Ourselves.
Let us turn from doubt and fear and find Faith and Peace.

Never Alone: Christ Knows Your Pain and Is By Your Side

Having Crohn's Disease makes life very difficult. There are times where I feel no one understands my pains. I previously wrote a post about how Christ truly has complete empathy for us. For some reason during this past very difficult week I had forgotten this truth and felt alone again. I have my loving husband who helps ease the pain but he can never truly understand how I feel. On Sundays I enjoy looking at LDS.org I found this article and it re-opened my eyes. It helped me find "The Son" in this stormy time of my life. The title of the article is Christ has Felt my Pain .

I testify that Christ truly understands our pains. He will help us endure, by comforting, lifting, guiding and teaching us. He has perfect empathy and is the only one who can truly state, "I know how you feel."

I invite you to memorize this following scriptures and remember that when you feel as though you have fallen into darkness and pain that the "Son" our Savior, Jesus Christ will bring the light back into your life.

James 5:11 - New Testament
Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.

Ether 12:27 - Book Of Mormon
And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.

Always remember you are never alone. A great talk By Elder Bednar reminds of that we all have burdens and that our trials helps bring us closer to Christ.  Bear Up Their Burdens With Ease.

We must remember also that if we have faith we can be healed if it is God's will. We must come to His son. Let us have faith enough to endure and faith enough to be healed according to Heavenly Father's Plan and timing.

I testify that Christ has the power to heal as He did in the Old Testament and as He did in The Book Of Mormon. Let us come unto Christ and allow Him heal our hearts, and guide us in enduring to the end.

Experiencing Charity and Love

This past week and a half I have been super busy getting packed and ready to come out to school and doing orientation.

So I am going to redo my #week3charityandlove starting today.

These past weeks have really taught me a lot about Charity and Love. My family and friends have truly been helping me get through these busy times.

They have shown me Charity by helping me move and unpack and get everything situated. I just kept thinking that if Christ were here spending time with me He would be doing what my family and friends were doing. He would be talking with me, helping me and caring for me. It was great to feel a Christlike love from these great people who are truly disciples of Christ.

At orientation I felt more Charity and Love. From meeting new people, to the talks filled with the spirit and to the Spirit testifying to me that this is where I am meant to be.

These weeks reminded me that we are truly Christ's hands upon the earth. We must reach out and lift those who are feeling down. Let us be Disciples 24/7 and share Christlike love through our words, deeds, actions and attitudes.

Hope Is Vital

We all need hope. With out hope we become depressed, lonely, or faithless. Though when we have hope in Jesus Christ and His atonement then we are full of joy, peace, love and faith.

Faith is a part of our spirits. When we have hope in something we center our faith on that and work to have it come to pass.

If we truly center our hope on Jesus Christ then the other hopes we have in other things will become stronger.

As we know there is opposition in all things such as light and darkness. The opposite of hope is despair. Satan wants us to feel the loss of hope. He wants us to be miserable like himself. We must defeat him, let us come to Christ and be full of light and hope.

When we are righteous and obedient we can have hope in eternal life and the love of the Savior. We can also have hope in the power of repentance and forgiveness.

Hope truly leads us to action that is why it is vital in our lives.
